The Artists' Gallery
It began in the early 1990s. Artist Bob Hansman and other socially committed citizens set out to teach visual arts to teenagers living in St. Louis. These visionaries knew that a city’s future is only preserved when its youth are given encouragement and opportunity. Although the program was conceived only as an informal, summer program, Hansman found a mother lode of talent and a lifetime commitment for himself. The few who started the program soon spread the word that someone actually believed in them and wanted them to believe in themselves.

With each successive year, the number of eager artists
grew beyond anyone’s expectations. Yes, kids from troubled
homes, full of anger and surrounded by hopelessness,
were experiencing extraordinary life transformations.

Faces in the Loop, is the student's first venture into
managing their own business. In addition to selling their
portraits of city faces, they are dedicated to learning
important business skills.

Their pastel works are showcased here and are for sale
as originals or posters.

You can also commission a customized portrait
of yourself or someone special.
